The question is, "just how many more times are the Gravel Pit and
Irrigation Pond going to throw up Avian Goodies"?
With the usual stealth of a Bull Mammoth in Musk, we quietly crept up to the GP only to flush a small Duck, initially thought likely to be a Teal which, luckily, returned to the very same subsidiary pool it had sprung from. This late in the year that in itself would have brought its own rewards, but anyway there were now c3 of them. Peering over the gravel bund that part surrounds the pit those on view could be clearly seen as
 a 'pair' of
GADWALL
(male above, female bellow)
likely those that have been knocking about all year?
However, that first bird was surely 'smaller' than these so the search went on
but not for long as just 2 camera clicks later the 'first bird' again
took to the wing and seemed to head for the IP.
Sure enough, there it was with its 2 pals, a splendid looking
male
GARGANEY
While the other 2 left as quickly as they had arrived
this handsome chap
decided to stay for most of the morning.
A 'first' for Parley Court Farm
but not tolerated by the resident, and now nesting,
COOTs.
With a far more tolerant
BLACK-HEADED GULL
Right, that seems to have sufficiently
FLOGGED IT TO DEATH!
LARGE WHITE BUTTERFLY
were also on the wing which brought up the sum total of
anything else new to report.
