The Thin Line Between Love and Haiti - Part II

We know that in reality it is now 2022 but over the holiday period there has been so much going on that we remain firmly in the Old Year. Maybe as many as 3 /4 Posts to clear the backlog then back to reality - we hope!
It was as much about the 'kindnesses' shown to me on the Island as anything else, with Ernso, now seen to be a real King Pin in these part affording me a Cook's Tour of the capital  Port au Prince. Starting on the up-beat side we first visited the newly built

CATHEDERAL
which had raised from the ruin almost before the Earthquake had subsided
and in sharp contrast
CONGRESS
to the one that once stood close by!
STREET SCENES
With this man being the local Chemist!
Across this impovrished city you would be able to purchace a single Asprin from him.
OVERVEIW
and while not being a moment religeous myself, considered this scene smacked rather of the Biblical
Judges 14:14 "out of the strong came forth sweetness" as in Great Britain, and elsewhere in the World, these shipping containers have now become Chic! As an aside the quote is also the moto of Lyle's the Golden Syrup Kings.
A visit to
ERNSO's OFFICE
was always going to be part of the gig and a great delight to meet his
STAFF
before wandering next door to view his (The Minister's)
CHAPEL
and meet the
CLERGY
before contnuing our trip
between the more
EYE-CATCHING

IMPOVRISHED
At the very last knockings of a most eye-opening, and sometimes harrowing, tour there came into view something most familiar and immediately taking me back to my past as a Mariner
which may not ring any bells with the majority, but was the name of the only woman I have ever really LOVED!
THE OCEAN GOING SALVAGE TUG
of the same name, on which I had served, at various times, as Boatswain, Chief Officer and Master.
The image was painted by a certain Tony Warren, coxswain of the Falmouth Lifeboat, where at the time we were seeking shelter from the adverse weather in the English Channel and hangs in my humble home still.
It might be an option to publish one of the rescuse we undertook during those times, in the future!
