The Boys Are Back in Town - Thin Lizzy

We find having spent that weekend in Norfolk and covered it within these pages as a Three Part Series, we are now somewhat behind with other happenings back here on more familiar territory. That too will take a little catching up over who knows how many Posts? So here we go........
The Moth Traps continued to show promise as did the Weather.
PALE PINION
was a good start to yesterday morning as a First for the Year
as were
 CLOUDED DRAB
and also caught the less typical pale/grey variation on the same Insect.
 SMALL QUAKER
 comparison with Common Quaker (top).
With good numbers now emerging right across the
Recording Area
no surprise that we also caught
 BUFF-TAILED BUMBLEBEE
all New for the Year, while
GREAT DIVING BEETLE
is our second such of 2017.
Some other 'fliers' which may not be Firsts for the Year but are
Firsts of the Spring
 KINGFISHER
Only a very infrequent visitor to
Bournemouth International Airport
PILATUS PC - 12/45
of Jetfly Aviation, Luxembourg.
Both very brief encounters, taking to the wing almost immediately at our approach
SHELDUCK
at the Eco Recycling Works and one of the 'smartest' male
SHOVELER
we have ever seen in the right light at take off
along with a female.
Lifting the Herps Covers on our first deliberate inspection this year
we also found more additions in the shape of
 BROWN-LIPPED SNAIL
 COMMON SHREW
which was, as usual, so fast there was hardly time for
'stills' let alone 'video clips', a
 'pea size'
GARDEN SNAIL
 along with a 'brace' of
SLOW WORM
to be continued........
