Shallow - Porcupine Tree

(well, Shallow is as close to Sallow as we can get)
Always nice to have something or someone to 'blame' for any shortcomings, and once again that falls to the weather. Yesterday was a complete wash-out with no letup in the rain during the forenoon, and niggling pulses thereafter which we attempted to dodge while seeing to the Moth Traps. Add to that a dawn temperature of just +8°C and a stiff breeze there was a predictable BLANK on the Insect front. Whinge over and on the bright side maybe a good job we have a few images left in the can from previous days. All additions to the Year List we have done rather well with the Sallows
CENTRE-BARRED SALLOW

and
RED-LINE QUAKER

Harbins Willow Tree swaying in the breeze.
The real ray of sunshine came a could of days ago while simply mussing at the
Irrigation Pond
when overhead flew a small party of c5
PINTAIL
and addition to our Recording Area List.
Very distinctive in flight were the c2 male birds, but not so the c3 females/juveniles.
Otherwise, we have to lean on the couple of juvenile
GREEN WOODPECKER
which are now feeding daily on Hugh's Lawn Tennis Court.
With a little stealth,
who was that chuckling?
they can be quite approachable.
Although not even entered for the
Photographs of the Year Completion
we thought these 2 images, from one of the Trail Cameras
placed outside of Slight Return II, appear to show a
FOX
either chasing, or being overtaken by a
NIGHTJAR
Whichever, this is not the first record of this enigmatic bird in the
Harbins Garden.
