Sight is never lost
of the privilege it is to have, more or less, one’s own patch where to see another
human being is something of a ‘tick’ in itself. Add to that the
recent governmentally imposed ring-fencing while we are still strolling about
as ‘free as a bird’ with no pun intended! Only common fare on
the day and no Moths to talk of but, with the

(sunrise v frost, one will surely have to give way)
starting
to show its hand who knows what might be next? The day started at 04:00 when the seemingly familiar 'calls' from across the River Stour just needed confirming. Stood on the step in the altogether (not a pretty sight) and Jack Frost nipping at the extremities, certainly one but highly likely a pair of
LITTLE OWL
were giving it large!
Considered no longer a resident here it has been some time since the last was recorded
so something of a coup but not to be alone in that.
MEDITERRANEAN GULL
holds similar status here since my early days when they were often seen/heard on passage
and never failed to turn up to the plough which now seems a long time ago,
making this fly-over and calling bird a second bonus within a very short time!
Close to home the humble
HOUSE SPARROW
continues to thrive while the
KESTRELs
continue thrier courtship
as a local
SONG THRUSH
attempts to force its way through the early morning frost
MEADOW PIPIT
numbers
continue to increase on the Heath
and where a hungry
KESTREL
'in hover'
was working its tallons off to obtain a morsel
just look at that sky!
Arriving at the
Bournemouth International Airport
fence-line just in time to see the Virgin being moved
which opened to view something of a
SIGN of the TIMES
c2 more to starboard and beyond and out of camera view a further 5
on the way back we did make a little effort to find both
Reptiles and Insects alike with this second for the year
SLOW WORM
plus this easily caught
VIOLET GROUND BEETLE
but despite the ease of catching did administer a rather sharp nip - Ouch!
