Like a Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan

My second favourite song ever, and as for lyrics
THE VERY BEST!
We have lost count of the number of times we have visited
Longham Lakes
over the past couple of weeks but like the man said,
if at first you don't succeed try, try again!
Always a great joy just to walk the 'figure-of-8' path around the two lakes,
which forms a reservoir of reserve water supply for the Bournemouth area,
with always the chance of turning up something good, but of late the
incessant chatter of Reed Warbler and melodic outbursts from Cetti's Warbler
were more than suffice.
However, the object of the exercise was to at least observe,
preferably at close quarters, and hopefully photograph and video the now semi-resident
Bonaparte's Gull
showing on occasion there.
Nothing to do with Napoleon but there will be at least one connotation!
 SCALLOPED HOOK-TIP
 SANDY CARPET
 CINNABAR
TREBLE LINES
and while we stand insistent that
"we don't do Micros"
we make exception when capturing one we readily recognise!
GARDEN PEBBLE
Having completed the 8 without success and reaching the root of the central path,
there stood a (dare I say) a rather attractive lady peering through a Swarovski telescope.
Enough in itself to tell a story, she was approached and immediately got me on to the bird.
Again too distant to gain any sensible shots or footage but
where needs must even 'record shots' would be better than 'blank' discs.
Bathing all the time, it seemed reluctant to move that is until my back was turned
and disappearing from my view. Consulting again with my new found friend, she
had seen it fly to the south and perch on what she described as a 'post in the water'!
This was surely the Depth Indicator just off the south bank and where in the
past all of the more common Gulls and Terns have been photographed
by myself at one time or another.
Certain it would fly before able to cover the 300 or so yards
that was found to the contrary as it continued preening throughout its stay.
Additionally, there is also a metal fence here
which affords great cover with the results
 posted here for your delectation!
What was not foreseen or accounted for was the usual practise
of fireing an occasional slug of water through the sub-sea pipeline
 to keep the lake aerated.
With a loud whoosh and a great deal of turbulence, the Gull was flushed
and never seen again, but the shots were secured - back to base!

Ah, princess on a steeple and all the pretty people
they're all drinking, thinking that they've got it made.
Exchanging all precious gifts
but you better take your diamond ring, you better pawn it babe!
You used to be so amused,
at 'Napoleon' in rags and the language that he used.
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse,
when you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose,
you're invisible now, you've got no secrets to conceal.

How does it feel, ah how does it feel?
To be on your own, with no direction home,
like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone.
