It would have been foolhardy to leave home today without the 'foul- weather gear' as again it was dark and overcast with the fresh westerly wind still predominating. Throughout, there were fewer birds than in recent days with little to see at any of the likely spots, but there's always something of interest.

Given the weather conditions lately, wet and relatively mild, it's not surprising that Fungi and Snails are showing themselves. These were part of a large number in the cemetery this morning.

The poles in the reed-bed at Radipole indicates someone 'mist netting' birds for 'ringing' a surefire way to find out much about our feathered friends.

The only bird I found here today of note was this rather lethargic Black-tailed Godwit, not exactly posing.

We've all heard of 'Daddies Yacht', but maybe this is Prof Morgan's? Peter is once again visiting the Portland Bird Observatory from Wales, directing 'ringing' (and 'ringer' training) activities, although I haven't seen an Oilskin or Sou'wester yet!

Challenge Wales is the ideal yacht for corporate use whether for team building or as a high profile vessel for a corporate event. Based out of Cardiff Bay, alongside the M4, means the boat is very easy to get to and can help save time when perhaps in the past heading to the Solent was the other alternative. Today she was swinging to her anchor in Weymouth Bay. So someone else said.

Stat Counter Update

Purely by coincidence, when I logged in to form this post, the Stat Counter had reached the 17,000 mark for the UK, while the USA is rapidly approaching 2,000. It is now India and Brazil that lurk just below the 3 figure position as others such as Philippines & Indonesia are increasing apace. It may well be that the latter 2 countries could be my over-winter destinations, but that is still in the melting pot - Watch This Space!
