In the Heat of the Night - Ray Charles

With overnight tempratures continuing to hover in double figures it is no surprise to find 'Strange Happenings'! To kick off with the return of what could be described as a dawn chorus involving both

TAWNY OWL
along with
MOORHEN
if you include such squeekings as a chorus?

Additionally, an outrageous outbreak of Moths particularly that of the

DECEMBER MOTH
with these 80+ all out of the same trap but roundly outnumbered by our friend and fellow enthusiast down to the west having captured 208 on the same night.
Theory being that the cocoons have delayed popping until a suitable night temperature was reached!

Additionally, there were also a trio of variously marked and hued

MOTTLED UMBER
Add to that all water-courses are now ice free, they too have been welcoming back the usual
over-wintering suspects such as a single
LITTLE GREBE
on the Gravel Pit along with a or the
COOT
back on the Gravel Pit along with
a couple of
male
TUFTED DUCK
but what was far, far less welcome was the animal's that are known as
Fly Tippers
With a flat-screen TV the authorities may be able to aprehend the culprit by the seriel number? but I, with no authority, have to leave such things in the hands of the owner!!
Down South what was last years Sunflower Field is also up to the Plimsol Line with the final fillip of the day being an encounter with one of the Water Bailiffs who reported from the River Stour having first heard and then seen, briefly in flight, surely the same
BITTERN
reported here on 03/12/2022.
