Nut Rocker - B. Bumble and the Stingers

Despite the low of -4°C overnight there were Moths in each of the 5 traps but nothing to get excited about! However, some reward came with capture of both

BUFF-TAILED BUMBLEBEE
(maybe we should have turned the Canon on ourself for a little more action?)
WHITE-TAILED BUMBLEBEE
along with a cluster of the tiniest of unidentified
LARVAE
We still do not have the foggiest what the
MUTE SWANs
are up to, one minute 'sitting' the next 'building' but a conundrum we will be keeping an eye on!
Most of the rest of the days action came from the Heath were it is highly unusual to see
SONG THRUSH
at any time of year
but now live in hopes that
it will find a mate.
Far more expected are
LONG-TAILED TITs
now well into the process while snapping the
BOG MYRTLE
Over hillways up and down, Myrtle green and bracked brown.
'Mairi's Wedding'
before it turns to that beautiful green.
We also get the impression
from thier activities that the
WOODLARK
(early nesters)
are now feeding young and hope to bring the 'sprogs' to you in days to come?
Otherwise, we ended our wander
in and around the Solar Panel Compound where
GREENFINCH
continue thier building activities with attendant
MEADOW PIPIT
showing this strange gapping gesture
don't know what that's all about while
radient
STARLINGs
and a brace of
CARRION CROWs
brought our observations to an end!
