Clutching at Straws - Marillion

Again dogged by rain showers at least the temperature had clung to the higher reaches of single figures but only returning from the traps a single

CLOUDED DRAB
and a brace of
HEBREW CHARACTER
Otherwise, with the use of a borrowed vehicle we managed a full rounds producing nothing new but an acceptable number of species including
a most unusual start as usually very nervous and on this occassion rain spattered
MOORHEN
was no more than 5 paces from the doorstep.
Otherwise an unknown number (but considered small) of
COMMON GULLs
were heard overhead with numerous Herring Gulls as seemingly part of the passage to the inland feeding grounds. Something of a minor bonanza at the Gravel Pit where were found singles of
beached
CORMORANT
GREY WAGTAIL
and a most welcome
LITTLE GREBE
while on our way to view the Heath, but drawing a Blank there, 2 or maybe 3
JAYs
may have been recorded while it was also noted that the presumed same
SHELDUCK
of last week had de-camped to the
Moors River
where was also seen this single male
SHOVELER
