Sweet Painted Lady - Elton John

It was Saturday evening that once again we hosted and warmly welcomed the

‘Human Pheromone’
(shrouded in bright colours from above the following morning)
a.k.a. Dave Foot
(which of course also heralded the rain - so be it)

after a series of veiled moans and groans, via these pages, reference the lack of Moths previously!
It was left to his Dave-ship to set the traps in motion that evening and in so doing recorded
NIGHTJAR's
not only hawking Insects but also 'churring' (singing) which seemed a little late in the year as they have surely commence the southern migration by now.
On the face of it the traps looked to be packed to the rims and we were not to be disappointed as first out of the hat were a couple of 'first for the year' (as all the following Moths are)
HEATH RUSTIC
and
TAWNY SPECKLED PUG
interspersed by other creatures mostly spotted by Dave such as a
delightful
YELLOW WAGTAIL
more Moths including
DUSKY THORN
and
BUFF FOOTMAN
then just to break with tradition my own contribution of an
extremely distant, can you see it yet, almost centre in the bare branches?
GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER
going through all the functions including drumming, preening, feeding and singing,
but back to the business in hand with
WHITE-LINE DART
and the fairly similar
ARCHERS DART
the exquisit
GOLD RINGED DRAGONFLY
a brace of Pug species
WORMWOOD PUG
and
CURRANT PUG
SALLOW
SMALL COPPER
(Butterfly)
OBLIQUE CARPET
and as is the want of us here Gentlemen, we complete the Post with a stunning
PAINTED LADY
