HENRY IV - Bill the Bard

Although conditions remain seemingly favourable for attracting Insects overnight, the traps here remain a little lacklustre to say the least. However, among the 54 species secured last night 2 were at least additions to the Year List while

 SHARK

 is only the second to be caught here.

 STRAW UNDERWING

and

 SIX-STRIPED RUSTIC

grabbed the headlines.

 During the period of tending the traps a flock of a 'few dozen'

 mainly juvenile

 SWALLOWs

 found the lawns at Harbins favourable and along with collecting Insects,

they also busied themselves with swooping low on each other and

collecting what appeared to be nesting material. As quickly as they 

arrived they were gone possibly to begin the long migration south?

 All else of interest today was another visit to

Brownsea Island situated in Poole Harbour the second largest 'natural'

harbour in the world.

in the distance said to be the most expensive properties in the world.

 The series of FERRIES transported us all safely both out and back.

 We had come to see a production of the 

William Shakespeare

play

 and what a production!

LORD BADEN POWELL

formed the Scout Movement on this spot.

Time for a quick look in one of the Bird Hides with just a few

Redshank and Little Egret and lots of Cormorant and Oystercatchers.

 As Hugh busies himself pouring the Champers

 the rest of our party gather

 including Farmer Dan

 who as ever brought along large quantities of his own grown

Raspberries and Strawberries.

 Tickets at the ready we

 took our seats

 and as already mentioned enjoyed a fine performance.

 Personally, I just love the way the English language was in those days

and the poignant little quips that go with it.

 For me it was FALSTAFF who stole the show

seen here writhing around on Mother Earth.

 but each and every actor played their part

 especially the 6 Strong and True Men awarded to Falstaff

 when finally through much conniving he is Knighted by the King.

It seemed about 10 minutes since we were here last year

and feel sure it will feel the same when hopefully once again
we go back to Brownsea.
