Big in Japan - Sunday Special

but just Wildlife this time with no Geisha's!

That first and still only visit to the Land of the Rising Sun in 2007 took me across all of the countries 5 main islands from Hokkaido in the north and beyond the southern-most island of Okinawa to the tiny off-shore island of Yakashima in hope of seeing the 2 endemic species there. Some of the Wildlife seen along the way included

BLACK-EARED KITE
YELLOW-BREASTED GREENFINCH
SLATY-BACKED GULL
HARLEQUIN DUCK
and yes even
TREE SPARROW
likely the most numerous species recorded there even in the bustling cities and highways!
JAPANESE WHITE-EYE
STELLA'S SEA EAGLE
likely familiar from the Stern-Sheets of
Our humble home ever dedicated to my magical hero
James Marshal Hendrix
(you can call him Jimi)
TERRAPINs
GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL
NIGHT HERON
RUFOUS TURTLE DOVE

and so to the tiny off-shore island of Yakushima at the toe of the most southerly main island of Okinawa for the 2 endemics.

YAKUSHIMA MAQUAC
which is often found riding on the back of the other
YAKUSHIMA DEER
Winter's cityside, crystal bits of snowflakes
all around my head and in the wind.
I had no illusions, that I'd ever find
a glimpse of summer's heatwave in your eyes.
You did what you did to me, now it's history I see.
Here's my comeback on the road again.
Things will happen while they can, I will wait here for my man tonight,
It's easy when your big in Japan, when you're Big in Japan!
