Bye Bye Blackbird - Joe Cocker

Another dank start to the day but like most others of recent times,
out came the sun and dried up all the rain
so Incy Wincy climbed up the spout again.

The large shape flying out of the rain cloud manifested itself as a

GREY HERON

which settled briefly in  the

Harbins Fir Tree,

while all that were found in the Moth Traps were

YELLOW DUNG FLIES

and this

WHITE-LIPPED SNAIL

Things turned very much for the better on arrival at the

Irrigation Pond

where a most obliging

COMMON SNIPE
(Mute Swans passing overhead)

was found feeding

and yes we did rather

over-egg the custard but at no extra cost!
What followed was considered far more unusual

as surely all

REPTILES

including this

SMOOTH SNAKE
should be in hibernation by now?
Also along the way were found

 WOOD STITCHWORT

PLEUROTUS CORNUCOPIAE

 STINKING MAYWEED

PHOLIOTA AURIVELLA

and we ended our day watching a local

BLACKBIRD

feeding on the lawn outside of
