Purple Rain - Prince

The heavy downpours started at about 02:00 on Sunday morning and persisted throughout most of the day, but still there were a couple of interesting returns from the Moth Traps and bits an pieces of note in the field.
We start with another Migrant and an addition to the
Year List
 PEARLY UNDERWING
along with an Insect we haven't seen since the Spring
CHESTNUT
Our second for the year but remarkably only the third ever
a relatively common species
L-ALBUM WAINSCOT
During the process we did record our first Autumnal
GREYLAG GEESE
 while
 CORNARIUS MALACHIODES
are pushing their way through the lawn, while a highly vocal
WHIMBREL
passed overhead.
The only other birds worthy of a shot
 were this brightly lit, male
PHEASANT
an all too mobile
KINGFISHER
along with another juvenile
PHEASANT
For the rest of our wander we were almost totally reliant on
Plant Life with
 COMMON TOADFLAX
 and
 COPRINUS HETEROSELOSUS
 that is until this
CHIFFCHAFF
turned up
 and then coincidentally followed by
PURPLE TOADFLAX
