All Things Come to Those Who Wait??

The only thing that can be relied upon in Nature / Wildlife is that between us we are surely killing it off! Otherwise, but at a local level, the second best certainty is once them there Ewe's and Lamb's are back in barracks

back also come the
RAVENs
looking in the first instance for that last knocking of any still to be discharged
placenta, the abundance of Sheep Ticks and Mites and the inevitable Fatality or so!
We will be in wait with Canon poised!
On the other hand the wait is over as the 'heads up' came on account of Wader 'calls', finding on the
Gravel Pit
not one, but 2
GREEN SANDPIPER
which was recorded back in January, on 'call' alone with the longest wait for a sighting,
59 days, ever at this location.
Not to overlook the Moth Traps, the Insects continue to trickle in
with a smart looking First For the Year
MULLEIN
OAK BEAUTY
on an Oak showing just how unobtrusive such Insects can be, along with continuing records of
CLOUDED DRAB
HEBREW CHARACTER
with a splendid
SATELLITE
along with the first
MAYFLY
of the year and it ain't even April yet!
While grubbing around the same area we found the familiar and attractive plant
MNIUM HORUM
(as identified by John Gifford)
and found later to have the splendid vernacular name of
SWAN'S-NECK THYME MOSS
With other blooms such as the irresistable to many Moth species
SALLOW BLOSSOM / CATKINS

things could get even better at the traps, with a

most obliging
COMMON BUZZARD
bringing another fruitful morning

to an end.
