Space Oddity I - Bowie

An 05:00 start, 500 miles round trip and close to 300 quids worth of hotels with the main thrust being a weekend in both Suffolk and Norfolk in search of about as small a creature that lives on Planet Earth.

but when serching for the larva the hungry must be fed!
Reaching Suffolk our first find was his
ROOK
as sat along the roadside enjoying a
Full English Breakfast with
Dave Foot.
Soon after it was down to the serious stuff with Dave briefing me as to what to look for among the
LARCH TREEs
as his Dave-ship soon found one, while I continued looking for the trees,
there were other things of interest not least the
BLOOMs
and
CONE'S
of the same trees along with
7-SPOTTED LADYBIRD
a single
HOLLY BLUE BUTTERFLY
KIDNEY-SPOT LADYBIRD
and the far more numerous and similar
PINE LADYBIRD
while a new one on me was
OREGON GRAPE
Our thirst slaked we moved on to
where the first encounter was with a herd of
LONG-HORN GOATs
even more interesting than our Rare Breads back home, and as the sign suggests
STONE CURLEW
which were both camera shy unless you had one of these
Solar Powered Cameras
parked right next to them with our
Best Efforts being this and
this augmented by a couple of
professionals so you can see more clearly what we are on about!
While having visited the Prehistoric Flint Mines that make up
before, a second look whould have been welcome had they not been closed,
but plenty more to
keep us occupied at
if only with the
YELLOW HAMMERS
buzzing around the feeding stations and a lone
LONGHORN
DON'T TELL ME THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN
ENTMOOT!
Our first day ended in fine fashion, stepping from the pub after a fine dinner straight into the arms of the
INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION
Cydia Millenniana
sent by my sparing partner Dave via Lepiforum.
To be continued......
