While night-time temperature continue to remain annoyingly low, the upside is we have still been adding to the Year List. We could certainly do with a New Species for the Property, but there is plenty else to see besides.
Yesterday started with the First Out of Trap
also being the First for the Year, a
FOX MOTH
the Lucky Streak continued with
the Lucky Streak continued with
BLOOD-VEIN
CLOUDED BORDER
with 2 distinct variation what we might describe as
'Centre-barred' above and 'Bar-less' below.

SETACEOUS HEBREW CHARACTER
brought up the last addition but there was little else anyway.
BLACK SEXTON BEETLE
Heard long before they were located, these 2
REDSHANKAnother path-side nest this time of
LINNET
Whitethroat
may be considered a little 'scratchy' but don't you just love it?
Problem is, he's been at it for days now without luck.
All else includes the MAIZE sprouting very nicely,
SISKIN
still showing regularly on the Farm but not posing very well
nor revealing their nest site.
What might qualify as the first 'returning'
LITTLE EGRET
as there have been none for about 2 months now!
and a new arrival, not to mention something of a shock.
Down to Parley Pond and there was this baby
ALPACA
and me under the impression all 3 adults were males???
Just goes to show in this day and age you have to keep and open mind
I have suggested they call it
ELTON FURNISH!!
just in case.
and finally, just as we were about to spring into the hammock last night,
THE TOAD of Toad Hall.
