In the Plain - Savage Rose

After all the recent rain water levels along the River Stour remain at Mean High Water Springs

 ANVIL

and seemingly devoid of Birdlife. Fortunately, we decided to pay a visit before continuing to the wider world only to find this little beauty perched at the garden pond!

KINGFISHER
but little or nothing else so off to the now plougd and harowed crop fields of the Southern Section in search of Redwing but without any joy. All that could be found was this lone
HERRING GULL
finding plenty of sustenance in one of the horse paddocks, a rapidly departing
COMMON BUZZARD
and a few
ROOKS
feeding on the remains of this years Maize.
The female of our 'doorstep'
KESTRELs
obliged as we past the homestead heading north and where we found a splash of colour at the
Gravel Pit with both
GREY WAGTAIL
and a second
KINGFISHER
With the area along the course of the Moors River having now turned into a
 FLOOD PLAIN

THEM WUZ THE DAYS - SAVAGE!

expectations highten as many of the leaves have fallen also.
As is usual about half a dozen
CORMORANT
have already taken up station which annually bring along with the company a 'juvenile' bird.
MALLARD
numbers are now increasing with little by way of an accurate count yet
but thought to be in the regeon of 40+, but enough of that as those gentle whisps of
REDWING
were heard. Unfortunately the dozen or so Thrushes were
deep in the heart of a dence Holly tree feeding heartily and rarely putting in a
full frontal appearance - but at least / last we had seen them!
The Heath could only be described as BARE with almost a total lack of Wildlife as the
ASPENS
stand naked and the
APPLE TREE
(foreground)
just about leafless and fruitless.
A bit of a spill on the way back as one of the forklift drivers
misjudged his load and later from the doorstep this male
BLACKBIRD
tucked into a couple of slices of
Warburtons.
