in what looked like a sure sign of rain? Starting with a

Looks like the Fungus Fest has started here with a species of
LEPIOTA

Although permitted and open to my gaze this is pretty much a neglected track

as far as our daily rounds are concerned,

but yesterday a beeline was made for it with very good reason.

Given the 'heads-up' on the arrival

of some very special new residents by Gary Clarke the Cowman, today

we were prepared to walk the extra 9 yards!

have not been given names.

their well established neighbours

were not going to let them have all of the

Shenanigans - 'Green' Day

Tuesday started well enough with an eye-catching

SUNRISE
but only stayed rain free until noon by which time we had

cleared the Moth Traps and completed our Rounds.

 It's starting to get late in the season but still an addition to the

Year List

 BRINDLED GREEN

and continued good fortune with the migrant

VESTAL

All of note at the Irrigation Pond was a single

GREEN SANDPIPER

Likewise at the Gravel Pit it was left to another single Wader

 to take the plaudits

  but a good deal closer

COMMON SANDPIPER

The rest of the morning only found common fare at the 

Solar Panel Compound

a distant

 KESTREL

 preening and close by a

PIED WAGTAIL

Not dissimilar to the past few days, the Heath was more or less 

devoid of life save for this single

 STONECHAT

 where only last week there were thought to be as many as 30.

FLEABANE

an attractant for many Insects at this time of year including

SMALL WHITE BUTTERFLY

 Early afternoon and not unusually c3 females were strutting outside my door.

As usual they were

PHEASANTS
Yesterday, as no doubt was noticed, was our Day Off and
Memoir Time where we have just reached the
Falkland Islands - that exciting we may produce some images later.

STAY - The Hollies

Fact is, we are now spending more time answering E-mails, responding to Comments and even being accosted 'in the field' to explain why the Bagsy Blog needed to come to an end, than we ever would have saved by not having to compile a daily Post! Add to that the personal 'heart strings' that were being tugged as we tried to put our Beloved Blog to bed, it was decided to give the issue a longer and much more serious rethink. While the 'memoir' will remain priority, some juggling of our daily routine (4 afternoon naps rather that the usual half-dozen), some reduction in page content and occasional absences of publication may allow us to fulfil both of these ambitions. For the near future, Moth numbers are already dwindling and will soon be absent altogether, while daylight hours are also becoming much reduced adding to the time we will be confined to Slight Return II and happy to fulfil both commitments. If 'statistics' are anything to go by, daily readership has grown rather than fallen over the days since our 'closure announcement' which we know in part has been due to avid readers 'clicking the link' repeatedly to see if we have changed our mind. However, we also know that many readers haven't so would ask you all to use any form of Social Media to regenerate or increase interest by transmitting this

The
FULL HARVEST MOON
of 16/09/2016 was said to have a 'Suble Eclipse' difficult to discern from Earth.

This, even though having been published in the past, was thought to
be a rather good specimen of

SETACEOUS HEBREW CHARACTER
and also of note from the traps yesterday was a fine looking

MIGRANT HAWKER

DRAGONFLY
After 2 days of additions to our ongoing
September List, Tufted Duck and Pied Flycatcher,
a hat-trick was on the cards and fulfilled by the arrival of our first

TEAL

 

of the Autumn.

We keep such things as monthly records so it can be seen,

at a glance, via the already published booklet

Wildlife of Parley Court Farm

the occurrence of any particular species at a given time of the year.

As this document  only covers the first 3 years of our tenure here

and only covers Bird Life a

is long overdue.

Yes, another project!
Finally, for today at least, it can be reported that the newly constructed
Coot's nest has all but been washed away by rising water levels but
the family of c3 still remain in residence including the ever growing
