Clouds - One Direction

With the adverse effect of the stiff breeze countered in part

by the now more than accptable temperatures still the

Moths keep trickling in.

First's for the Year

included

 a most obliging

 CLOUDED BORDER

 SMALL CLOUDED BRINDLE

 GREY DAGGER

and

 TRUE LOVER'S KNOT

 The young

 COOT

is still being nurtured by both parents and seems to be doing very, 

 while the turning of the

Reptile Covers

 produced a further c2

 SMOOTH SNAKES

 but in the process we flushed

 either a roosting or nesting

 NIGHTJAR

 with the cover now moved to hopefully a more appropriate position?

 For the second time this week the viewable beat of the

Moors River

 has been alive with the songs of a number of

REED WARBLER

 while additionally a

 LITTLE EGRET

flew along the tree line before landing close by.

 Starting the drive back to the bridleway

ahead we sighted a second family group of

 CANADA GEESE

 and within the 

Solar Panel Compound

yet another

CUCKOO

it has been a very good year for them thus far!

One of the benifits of the fresh breeze was the

Theraputic Effect of the Swaying Birches

and yet another flight by

NHS Airways

Finally from one of our 

Weymouth Correspodants

 the latest veiw across 

Weymouth Bay.
Although not shown the whole of the P and O fleet (7) are now parked there!

Firstly an apology for sending you on a 'wild beetle chase yesterday' as the final Insect was a
Green TIGER Beetle
and not as published Soldier!
Along with the new found higher temperatures before, right across and beyond the weekend, peaking at +31°, also came gale force wind (peak 42 m.p.h.).

The warmth would undoubtedly have attracted more Moths

but the gusts maybe countered that!

Those 'first for the year' that did manage to reach the egg trays included

 TREBLE BROWN-SPOT

 BURNISHED BRASS

and

 COMMON WHITE WAVE

During that early morning process a few now daily residents crossed our path including

 Cock

and

 hen

PHEASANT

 adult

GREEN WOODPECKER

(we are awaiting the young)

 The pair of

ROBINs

nesting in the Corkscrew Hazel just a couple or 3 yards across the lawn,

 MAGPIE

which is thought should have had its brood on show long before now, 

and the now almost ever present

 ROOKs

which one way or the other have been

 one, if not the 'Highlight of the Year

never having before been able to experience the antics and activities at such close quarters!

BRILLIANT

however it is predicted that this young

CARRION CROW

wont see the Summer Solstice.

Once again the Irrigation Pond lay abandoned but a return of some of the prodigals

 2 pairs of

 TUFTED DUCKs

 having a bit of a splash about

before being joined by

another bather

BLACK-HEADED GULL

 The 'RAINBOW' Virgin Airbus

has again returned from who knows which destination were we

caught it being put to bed before the next run,

and while on the subject and metorphorically speaking

"ain't it a bit dodgy parking so mant Virgins right next to a 

YOUNG BUCK"?

so we make the most of the singles or two's we do see!
