Nights in White Satin - The Moody Blues

 Continuing part of the theme of yesterday we were inspired to take a look as to how the

HOUSE MARTIN
colony were fairing at the Bournemouth International Airport before the workforce started to arrive

and where the gable ends of these c2

recently refurbished Factories / Storage Units have historically been the site for such activity.
The news was not good with not a single Martin being seen and only a few identifiable 'chirrups' being heard in the background.

Additionally, very strange happenings on the

rooftop beyond where both

LESSER BLACL-BACKED GULLs
along with

HERRING GULLs
appear to have been 'sitting' for weeks without sight nor sound of a youngster?
Back to base and still one or two Moths gracing the traps, despite the weather with

DARK ARCHES

DWARF CREAM WAVE
and

SATIN WAVE
bringing the annual species total up to 220. Additionally, there was also a

BLACKSPOTTED PLIERS SUPPORT BEETLE

almost a prehistoric Insect we have only ever clapped eyes on once before.
Out in the wider world we encounteed this young

FOX

drinking its fill before being tempted to get the
Butterfly Net
out in persuit of free-flying

TWO-BANDED WASP HOVERFLY
and a tiny

SUMMER CHAFER
followed by a now almost mandatory young

MISTLE THRUSH
along with

STOCK DOVEs
heralding the arrival of the 'first' and rather ragged

MEADOW BROWN BUTTERFLY
among the flowering

WHITE CAMPION
along with a similarly loan

CLOUDED YELLOW
with the day ending with what were considered as the

same returning

Danger Zone - Stone the Crows

 At dawn there was little, or no, need to venture far in persuit of Avian Action as it was all around us! Mostly of the Corvid kind to start with (Crows that is) all indicating just how successful the breeding season has been this year

every one

before a young

JACKDAW

put in an all to short appearance.
We eventually pulled ourself away and reached the
Moth Traps
whare again we got a result starting with a

somewhat ragged

EYED HAWK-MOTH
winning its Equity Card while followed by additions of the Beauty that is

BLOTCHED EMERALD

and a Beast of an Insect that is the

GOAT MOTH
maybe unusually taken at light.
There was little more on show in the field but on the way back we noted how well the

SPUDS
are doing with finally a lone

SWALLOW

performing a 'high wire' act while continuously 'gaping' which may go down as
multi-skilling?
Back at the homestead seemed like we had quite overlooed this

BURYING BEETLE
covered in paracites.

The Young Ones - Cliff Richard

 With rain, at times, still hindering our progress we continue to mix a little of the previous days with those that went before. Luckily, we have been able to get to the Moth Traps and seen some success so an assotment here of those added to the Year List.

Considered 'common' throughout the British Isles

we always look foreward to capturing the likes of

as we love the family group with those nifty little epaulettes.

Additionally,

was coaxed out of hiding along with another 'commoner'

Otherwise, the day was almost given over entirely to New Arrivals

with the weather perhapes suiting such things as

very scruffy looking juvenile

within a blink of an eye

will look every bit like the perant birds shown.

There was also a Brief Encounter

with a young

STONECHAT
but feel we could do with a little more practice, in the stability department, with the video?
A sigh we have not seen since early pandemic and that is a full c4

on the pan at the same time!
