Gold - Duran Duran

About the Best we could do at early light with the first

JUVENILE ROBIN
of the year but another small gathering of First for the Year Moths, but by comparison not quite so attractive as those in recent days.
By no means annual here
GOLD SWIFT
LESSER YELLOW UNDERWING
always more attractive when open winged but always reluctant.
KENT BLACK ARCHES
SMALL DOTTED BUFF
and
SALLOW KITTEN
Bringing up the also-rans we spent a bit of time among the local
HOUSE SPARROWs
which seem
not to have done half as well
(male with juvenile)
as in previous years but
at least they have procreated!
At Pond-Side the
CANADA GEESE
are looking more like Mum and Dad every day while it seems the Mute Swan family have dispursed to a new but unknown location.
To continue the juvenile theme
on the Gravel Pit we found a single young
MOORHEN
strangely gaping, but joy of joys next door on the almost impossible to view
Irrigation Pond
a well developed juvenile
LITTLE GREBE
being fed by
by a seemingly lone parent bird?
Adult Briefly
and
Quiet a find but nothing like previous years when 3 or 4 pairs have bred with double broods!

They Only Come Out at Night - Peter Brown

The continuing spells of anything from light to heavy rain have not detered us from our ventures in fact in one instance gave some direction as to what should be tackled next, but firstly the Moth Traps.

A decent and welcome candidate is always the
WHITE SATIN
but on this occassion immediately outflanked by both
SCARCE SILVER-LINES
with the 'brace' on this image either side of another beauty
GREEN SILVER-LINES
and to round off the Moths for today a
BEAUTIFUL BROCADE
Apart from flashing up the traps at dusk we take to watching the
Denizens of the Night such as Woodcock, Nightjars and of course Owls. of the middle contenders we usually just sit in the Mobile Bird Hide and watch for where they land and in the hope of viewing a nest but ALWAYS at a safe distance, not to disturb. Last year it was
 Dave Foot

who found a nest while prior to that and the restrictions it was 2 of my now absent c3 apprentices

Josh 8 and Sophie 5 then
who immersed themselves in the study of Moths as well.
So far no luck in 2021 but we are able to bring to you the success stories of those yeas before.
NIGHTJAR
and then just a
random sequence of shots
and videos across those years.

Last Year's so Different Eggs.
Don't Move Much Do They!

MADAGASCAR - Part III

 After all that Bunny-ing,

this one has been there for a week now with no signs of Reynard,

about Butterflies (Wendy Craig) and Mister Blue Skies (ELO) yesterday, it was certain that we had drawn our Revolver (The Beatles) and loosed a Bullitt (Steve McQueen) into My Left Foot (Daniel Day Lewis), it hasn’t stopped raining since!

Confined to barracks for most of the day it just fell lucky that today is Sunday and time for a return to Madagascar.

As we ended Part II of our journey with an Owl so we kick this one off with

BARRED OWL
and soon time to take in another sun rise before hitting the trail.
LITTORAL ROCK THRUSH

Safe to say this is an
ACACIA
The Archetype
RING-TAILED LEMUR
A FLOWER
CHABERT'S VANGA
Another 24 shots of an Amazing Place on Earth and with still a few left in the locker we see no reason not to extend the Trilogy on Sunday's to come - ENJOY!
