 Another night of blustery wind didn't help with the returns from the Moth Traps

and even full cloud cover seemed not to help but among the 216 Macro Moths of 71 species there was the return of

ORANGE SWIFT
an enormous female

BLACK ARCHES
which at first glance was thought to be something new and a
Ring-Side Seat for this

CRANE-FLY
perched on a Drinker Moth while

today's plague was provided by

FLYING ANTS

while the now well established

and ever increasing

STARLING FLOCK

commuted from roof-top to the Tennis Court Feeding Station.
A 'pass' by what could only be the Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter was a little baffling

as while it looked familiar and the Pennant Letters were the same she has undergone a
Change of Livery!

Also at home and snapped from an open window the shenanigans of the local

HOUSE SPARROWs
feeding and

DUST-BATHING
but the BEST of the day was certainly saved until last with a gang of 40+ gathering at the home of our dear friends Chloe, Loz, Ethan and Dylan for her birthday. A most tallented lady in many directions, but most particularly as an Upholsterer she has magical tallents!
Met as a result of her inquizative nature, she and a friend first encountered me monitoring the Moth Traps some 5 years ago, which certainly captivated them, and across a number of other visits the friendship grew. Since baby Dylan came along there has been no time for such things, but hopes have it that one day they will return together? So to the party:-

but now I have.
The Surrogate Uncle Bagsy and Dylan,

The atmosphere was In Tents!

such company and again a Happy, Happy Birthday Chloe and Many, Many more.!

While as a Royal Navy and Sports Dive a number of 'dips' hade been undertaken across the years, none got anywhere near close to that at the

GREAT BARRIER REEF
While we had discounted one of 2 key birds on the trip, Plains Wanderer, for logistical reasons, here at

it was to be 'Do or Die'
Leaving the coast to the likes of

RED-CAPPED PLOVE

PIED OYSTERCATCHER
along with a wealth of other Waders we entered the jungle, confined to the car and a fair helping of 'trepidation'
along with more than enough

RAINFOREST BUGS.

The signs were imediately GOOD finding still steaming Football Size Droppings
along with a good deal of activity ahead before catching sight of our 'first'

SOUTHERN CASSOWARY

with the usual legend having it as being able to rip the chest out of an

Adult Male Man
(we can only think women were excussed?)
We never did reach the intended Cape York but as a finale a stop for coffee at
The Kingfisher Ranch
gave us our final and not even dreamed of

PAPUAN FROGMOUTH
with chick!!!!
