With things at the traps falling into the disaster catagory we will show the returns as

 yet another

but did send it off to Dave Foot who pronounced it to be a 

Diurnia fagella

seemingly very common at this time of year

along with a

CADDISFLY

With the property seeming to offer little more on the day wemy
Apprentice Chloe and I that is
 decided to high tail it to

 BLASHFORD LAKES

where, for the fist time ever it was totally devoid of people save for the lady unlocking

and there were plenty of 'common' woodland birds to be seen.

The Felled Tree with Moss
just seemed an interesting and eye-catching subject as the new generation of

 SCARLET INK CAP
were noticed before crossing the road to take a look across

IBSLEY WATER

on the face of it a little quiet but jammed straight into a pair of

GREAT CRESTED GREBE

just performing the briefest clip of display.

Otherwise it was left to a decent number of

PINTAIL

to make up the number both beached

and waterborne.
 On parting, I stopped for the 7th time this year at
Kingfisher Lake
to try for a sighting of the now regularly overwintering

 FERRUGINOUS DUCK

 these are the only images we hold

 in the archive

 of a number of Ducks 'clicked' in Morocco in 2006

In recent years the lake has been block from view with
what must be incredibly expensive screening, while others have seen fit
to carve viewing ports in the canvas to aford views, presumabley, of this rare visitot to our shores.
I condone neither of these action especially as the view does not impinge on any residential
properties or other, just the lake!

Friday and Saturday

Apart from the LED Moth Trap on the Heath

there was little to report from the Recording Area so,

for the second day running we headed for

Longham Lakes

hopeing to find the elusive

Ring-necked Duck!

As far as the Moths are concerned 'BLUE' represents a 

First of the Year Insect

 ICHNEUMAN WASP

 YELLOW HORNED

 TWIN-SPOTTED QUAKER

 CLOUDED DRAB

 With no sign of the 'Yank' Duck we had to content ourselves with

more home grown species, firstly on the Heath where

LINNET

appear to have started taking up

 Summer Residence

but that was about all save for a little

Mutual Preening

Met at Longham gate by an almost obligatory

REED BUNTING

we continued on to give the

CORMORANTs

with
HERRING GULL 
in this image

and noteing the

different plumages with age.

CATTLE EGRET
have been showing up here regularly across the winter

so no surprise to spot the middle bird between a couple each of
LITTLE EGRETs

Saturday
after a full night's rain just a BIT of blue started peeking through!
You make the old

Magnolia Tree 

blossom at the mention of your name.
