Black is Black - Los Bravos

 Certainly a strange case of lightning striking in the same place twice as we started the day as usual at the Moth Traps with 2 cases of 'melanism' which is the increased developement of the dark pigment 'melanin', he utters very scientifically, in the skin or hair.

Firstly the more common and usual form of
TAWNY-BARRED ANGLE

and the darker type

and ditto with

PEPPERED MOTH
both of which have been secured already this year unlike

MARBLED BROWN

LEAST BLACK ARCHES
along with

COMMON WAINSCOT
Otherwise it was interesting to watch nature as its most wild
(not quite a Cheetah bringing down a Thomson's Gazzelle) but this

Spider Predator killing this hapless

in one of the traps.
Again a coincidence after yesterday's Post to find a

juvenile

GREY HERON
perched at the Main Pond.
All else of interest (and GREAT interest it was) as a result of a call from one of the tractor drivers

informing me of LAPWING activity at the field known as 18-Acre.

Nest so close to the pathway you could look almost directly down upon them,
but CARE had to be the byword!

Parent birds seemed not to be phased

all stages of hatching was going on

but in such situations there always seems to be a naughty one

with this individual having fallen down a hole to deep to escape from.

thanks to the cooperative parent birds for not bombarding me!

 While we were never counting our chickens before they hatched it was certainly before the fried eggs hit the plate this morning that we found ourselves in

but were watching the 'Hit Counter' at the appropriate time around 05:30 to see the fruits of our labours and the support of our Most Valued Readership join as one in that Magic Moment, we can only thank you all whole heartedly once again for the unswerving support - go on tell yer Pals!

A somewhat gloomy but adiquately warm day and night which did at the very least coax in a few     First for the Year Moths into the Traps with

In the early grey heading north this
WOOD PIGEON

was already hard at work best building while at the
Gravel Pit

a somewhat unexpected

pair of

GADWALL

which will be even more welcome if they turn out to be

the 'first' breeders of the species here!
In some of the out-buildings our first chance of capturing

SWALLOW'S NEST'S
and behind a bank of ever increasing green foliage the only example of

PINK HAWTHORN

so far this year.

Continuing the theme most of the garden shrubs are looking at their best wit

being all we know this beauty by while the

DOG ROSEs

are blooming

in their usual

Pink and White

while at Sunset the

WOOD PIGEONs

still continued their frolickings!

 We are having something of a busy but most enjoyable time of it at the moment which we will share with our Valued Readers in Posts to come. For now a bit of a 'catch-up' starting with a few Moths whose numbers are increasing, as expected, by the day!

were moved from the main body of the Heath some weeks ago and now rarely being seen

so we took our chance to reaquaint.

a Sight for Sore Eyes

(not much movement)

as we have never recorded a

GREY HERON
in or on any part of the
Solar Panel Systems

(but that's how Heron's are)
and to end there is nothing but good news from the Main Pond where all
