Sunday Morning - Velvet Underground (Part One)

 The overnight weather of Saturday into Sunnday with its frequent and heavy showers egged on by gusts of fresh easterly wind, didn't seem condusive with any kind of success from the Wild World, but the mood changed when looking throught he the perspex collar of the first

MOTH TRAP
to find a plethora of Insects but mainly Caddisflies! On closer inspection there were found to be 70 individual Macro Moths of 37 Species with half-a-dozen of them first-for-the- year such as:-

the daytime flying
CINNABAR

shiny as its name suggests

OAK HOOK-TIP

LIME-SPECK PUG
along with a

BLOOD-VEIN
While it is well known that we don't venture into the realms of Micro Moths (usually the very small ones, with a number of exceptions) when the likes of

happen along with the smallest of

SNAILs
they too seem worthy of a Blog Spot!
Between uping and downing bouts of operating the Gamp we also recorded close to home a

SONG THRUSH

hunting, presumably for a hungry new family, while also close to home these c2

WOOD PIGEONs

engaged in a Bath and Dhobie maybe prior to the nuptuals along with a considered smart looking bird indee, right outside of the door, a

ROOK

until all were flushed by the clatter of the

COASTGUARD

HELICOPTER
Despite the inclement weather we managed to make a 2-Parter of the day and while heading for the HEATH

RED-LEGGED PARTRIDGE

were noted along with there all-time friend the

COCK PHEASANT

Sri Lanka (Part I)

 With the country seemingly falling into termoil again it makes me wonder what the outside world, and more particularly those who have not ventured that far yet, think about the nation. My own adventure there in 2006 (just 2 years after the tsunami) covered no more than 3 weeks but all that was found was Peace, Love, Understanding, Respect and most of all 'Fantastic Wildlife'. Over the next 3 Sundays we hope to bring to our valued audience a snapshot of Birds, Beasts, Way of Life and Sights in equall proportion from our own indelible memories!
