We Gotta Get Out of This Place - The Animals

Leaving the lovely

behind I doubt there's a place in the word to compare for culture, history, architecture and art but nobody told me it was a 'National Holiday' for the locals. What had been hoped would be a fantastic day was a nightmare for someone who doesn't like crowds and in the end I was glad to get out of the place.

It was always touch and go that yesterday's Blog was published at all and same goes for today, so there will be little in the way of narrative except to say we are in Venice!

The first views of

the Bay of Venice from the train.

and while there have been one or two minor complaints about not having the big lens and the lack of Yellow-legged Gull photographs, as we arrived Venice this 'first winter' bird was scavenging the platforms.

These are just a few of the crowds outside of the railway station, but as my walk wore on they became more and more. Perhaps I can just leave you with a series of photos that sum the day up, and end by saying

Adult Yellow-legged Gull

but at the end of the day i was able to say
"Veni, Vidi, Vici"
