Back On Earth - Ozzy Osbourne

One of my wilder dreams is to fall out of bed one morning to find I have been metamorphosed into Ozzy Osbourne,
Oh look, I have!
Another BBQ last night and another hot, sunny and almost cloudless day to follow, which would have been a good deal warmer had it not been for a gentle and continuous cooling breeze. So, after yesterday's humble offering which was very much 'up in the air' today we focused on 'the land'.
 ALL IS SAFELY GATHERED IN
well not quite.
I rather liked both exposures of this
TOADSTOOL
glistening in the early morning dew, one taken with the big lens (top)
and the other with the new Canon.
 MIGHTY OAKS
This year just a very few Acorns where last year there were none,
while further along the riverbank the younger trees were festooned!
2 rather charming ponies I had not seen before.
 GAME BREAK
crop purposely left to provide food and shelter, not just for
Game Birds, but anything that happens along.
As Summer slowly blends into Autumn the hedgerows are
looking fantastic.
HIPS and HAWS
These (Hips), of one of the Dog Rose variety, are as big as Plums.

 HAWTHORN
with HAW BERRIES already looking ripe, and similarly on

 BLACKTHORN
SLOE BERRIES are almost ready to convert to Gin.
 FIELD MAPLE
One of many on the property which Hugh tells me that to his
knowledge none have been planted by family or workers.
Not quite ALL gathered in as this
 BARLEY
has to wait until the week-end to be reaped.
 DEAD NETTLE
so called as unlike their close relation they do not sting.
Another field edge turned over to the likes of
SUNFLOWER, FLAX,
WHITE CAMPION etc
extremely good cover and winter feed for most birds.
 HORSE CHESTNUT
(Conkers)
 MAIZE
(for animal feed)
 not quite ripe yet.
I just love the symmetry of crops especially Maize.
Carefully kneeling in a furrow between the rows and keeping
the camera low.
 MASERATI
quite liked the look of this too!
WOODY NIGHTSHADE or BITTERSWEET
and finally, not quite so welcome, comes a variety of
HIMALAYAN BALSAM or KISS-ME-ON-THE-MOUNTAIN
other names include Policeman's Helmet, Bobby Tops, Copper Tops,
and Gnome's Hatstand.
