SHEEP (Part I) - Pink Floyd

'Sheep' - from my personal favorite Floyd album 'Animals'
Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away.
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air.
You better watch out,
There may be dogs about!
There was overnight notification of a day visit by our friend Dave Foot, who knows full well
he is welcome here at Parley Court Farm at any time, and which always spells a busy and interesting day.
On the Moth front, the priority on any day visitors or not, without a doubt the best night of the year thus far and the first time we have reached 'the ton', 42 species of Macro Moth totaling 103 Insects.
 CHINESE CHARACTER
Could be overlooked as a bird 'dropping' and a comparison of size.
 DARK-BARRED TWIN-SPOT CARPET
 LESSER TREBLE-BAR
 SCORCHED WING
 RIVULET
 PUSS MOTH
 GREY PUG
 LOBSTER MOTH
 DARK SPECTACLE
 SMALL CLOUDED BRINDLE
DARK ARCHES
With a few specimens escaping between the identification process and
clicking the camera, the above list doesn't show all of the 20 additions to the Year List.
We may sort out some archive photos in the future.
Now it was just a case of wandering the Recording Area
and hoping for the best.
Dave was mightily impress by both the new location and the number of
nest holes (24) at the Sand Martin Wall and we quickly picked up on a couple of
Ringed Plover.
Unfortunately, save for half a dozen Mallard both the
Irrigation Pond and Gravel Pit were devoid of bird-life - but ever onward!

WASP SPIDER NEST
THICK-LEGGED FLOWER BEETLE
LESSER STITCHWORT
WHITE-LIPPED SNAIL
With a couple of
SMOOTH SNAKES
putting in a show for Dave's visit.
Talk about perfect timing, we arrived at the Solar Panel Compound
just in time to witness the last few Sheep being sheared.

POLLED DORSET'S
Our day was by no means complete, but we will draw a line under it
for now and bring you the other half tomorrow.
