How annoying do you find it after
spending the best part of your life detesting those who believe they have made
a better ‘cover’ of a classic Rock/Pop Song, and absolutely abhor anything to
do with the world of Advertising and then finding it all turned upside down at a
single stroke? Being an almost neurotically ‘selective’ TV watcher these days,
being fanatical about antiques and the arts, it just about boils down to Drew
Pritchard’s fabulous Salvage Hunters, the series that has been Versailles and
Channel 4 News. To make these programmes even more watchable we switch off when
the ads come on but last night we forgot and reaped a ‘double whammy’ concerning
the afore mentioned. As those most familiar opening strains of one of my favourite
Beatles song resounded through Slight Return II (it could even be heard in
the West Wing) my mind was changed watching, open mouthed, the Samsung Galaxy
commercial, and I don’t even like CHOCOLATE!!
"Nothings Gonna Change My World"
but it did John, and on that fateful day all of ours as well!
and this is for the fabulous voice of Rufus Wainwright on the advert
and the children who come after us!
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a
paper cup.
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe.
Pools of sorrow waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me.
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe.
Pools of sorrow waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me.
Jai Guru Deva – Om.
Nothing's gonna change my world (repeat)
Nothing's gonna change my world (repeat)
Images of broken light, which dance before me like
a million eyes,
they call me on and on across the universe.
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box,
they tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe.
they call me on and on across the universe.
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box,
they tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe.
Jai Guru Deva - Om.
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Sounds of laughter, shades of life are ringing through my opened ears.
Inciting and inviting me limitless undying love,
Which shines around me like a million suns,
it calls me on and on across the universe
it calls me on and on across the universe
Jai Guru Deva - Om.
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Nothing's gonna change my world.
In Sanskrit Jai Guru Deva (correctly Dev) is the Great Teacher.
Om is the Vibration of the Universe as chanted in many faiths.
Rufus McGarrigle Wainwright (born July 22, 1973)

Across the Universe was penned by John Lennon but for reasons
best known to themselves was credited as Lennon and McCartney?
It featured on the Beatles 12th and final studio album
BLOWN AWAY!
(Maybe the headline should have read Ramble On - Led Zeppelin?)

Can We Get On With It Now?
After our 2 'rare' captures from the Moth Traps in recent days,
Shoulder-striped Clover and Orache Moth
it would seem, should our suspicions be confirmed, that we could be in for a hat-trick!
Surely this fine specimen has to be
LANGMAID'S YELLOW UNDERWING
such a 'rare' migrant that it was unknown in Dorset until as recently as 2011.
In addition there have been a good selection of
Firsts for the Year
including
LILAC BEAUTY
JULY HIGHFLYER
ROSY FOOTMAN
and
BLACK ARCHES
Also in the 'unexpected' division a
GATEKEEPER BUTTERFLY
something that we have never seen from the traps before!
The 'Birding' day started with this
GREY HERON
at Parley Pond and while stood there an early morning overflying
RAVEN
which have been a little thin on the ground throughout the Spring.
In our last Post we did just mention the lack of juvenile
SWALLOWs
in our area, but predicted "they will surely be along soon"!
Fact is they are now everywhere you look
THANKFULLY!
An extremely busy Adult.
Not surprisingly, as we start the journey through Summer, there is not
a lot of action from pond-sides up at the Common except a couple of
BUCK ROE
Both Together
DOE ROE
COMMON DARTER
CANADA GOSLINGS
get bigger
before some strange happenings with the
LITTLE GREBEs
We cannot be sure just yet whether this is to be a third nesting attempt or,
as Grebes are prone to do for no apparent reason, build a 'raft?
Their Little 'Un is also continuing to do well
with the male at the moment providing much of the food.
Growing Juvenile
LITTLE GREBE
To end our Post and
while you may feel we have overloaded you with images and videos of juvenile
GREEN WOODPECKER
Like all youngsters, those of you with children of your own will know
they are babies today and teenagers tomorrow, snap them while you may.
When they persist in parking right outside our door it is difficult to resist the temptation
to video once, twice, three times before foisting them upon you!
