Friday on My Mind - The Easybeats

In an effort to catch up we return to the turbulence that was Friday and the first day of May, a
 ‘Weather Watchers Paradise’.

An early morning mist started to develop into fairly dense fog

before being caught by the early rays of a rising Sun.

‘Fair’ would be a reasonable description for the rest of the morning when

Bournemouth International Airport

erupted into a veritable cavalcade of various types of aircraft

as the wind started gusting almost gale force, accompanied by

Thunder and Lightning along with a full 15 minutes of moderately heavy ‘Hail’!

In the main the priority was given over to the refurbishment of the
Moth Traps
as Dave Foot had made new collars and availed me of the required number of securing clips.
Not something I look forward to as not having a
'Do It Yourself Bone in My Body'
but along with a number of far more important interuptions the job was eventually completed.
With temporary new homes to go to there was an addition to the
2020 List
 SCALLOPED HAZEL
and returns of the 2 specialties that are
 RINGED CARPET
and
 SCARCE PROMINENT
Between bouts we found only the second
 SPARROWHAWK
of the year
which was proving to have done very well for itself in
capturing and consuming this hapless
MOORHEN
This brought back memories of last summer when we found one
snagged in the tennis court netting
giving us the opportunity of holding the spcies
In the Hand
That was also the very moment we thought the emergency might be over
as within a very short period of time as the airspace above us came alive with aircraft.
First on the Wing
and very nearly missed
 the mighty
GALAXY TRANSPORT
of the
Royal Airforce
followed in quick succession by the
 NHS AIRWAYS AIRBUS
 bound, we were told via
South Today News Report,
for China again in search of more Personal Protective Clothing
However the Big Kid wasn't going that far, in fact they bottled it after 15 minutes and
was back on the landing strip.
We add these 3 snaps just incase you might like to
print them and make yourselves a little
 Jig Saw Puzzle?
 A N Other??
Eventually, out in the field we finally got to grips with both
 HERRING GULL

Carrying Nesting Material
 and bathing along with
 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL
MISTLE THRUSH
are now being seen at just about every location,
mostly feeding young or singing but while replacing the
Moth Traps
a real surprise in the shape of our first of the year
 CROSSBILL
(borrowed image)
The day however was not over as having to check the traps as darkness fell, stood at this
 VIEWPOINT
logged in quick succession and this order
 WOODCOCK
 the biggest
 BADGER
ever seen personally
RABBIT
 NIGHTJAR
first for 2020
TAWNEY OWL
