God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You - Argent

Fond memories of taking a member of the Women's Royal Naval Service to see them at the

BRIGHTON PAVILION
c1965 just prior to sailing to the Persian Gulf for 12 months.
Russ Ballard - sensational frontman, vocalist, lead guitar and songwriter. Rod Arget - keyboards.  Jim Rodford - Bass Guitar. and Argent's cousin Bob Enrit, drums.

It simply didn’t stop yesterday and save for attending to the 2 homeward Moth Traps and feeding the Chucks we stayed pretty much confined to the Mess Deck! What should have been victualing and bunkering ship day will be back-heeled until the weather improves but then, like Manna from Heaven we received an epistle according to St Bomber, starting with the 'trivia' of

GOLDEN TWIN-SPOT
and
FLAME BROCADE
2 Insects we have never clapped eyes on let alone caught but our day will surely come!

He well knows my interest and love concerning anything Weymouthian (having lived there for 48 years) and has kept me updated on the removal of the old railway-line that runs along the edge of the town and quayside. Any mention of the latter and I’m firmly back in Hendrix mode as for a number of years having been the photographer (the term is used in its most loose sense) at the

Annual Weymouth Rock Festival.
God gave rock 'n' roll to you, gave rock 'n' roll to you
put it in the soul of everyone
"Now listen"
If you wanna be a singer, or play guitar
man, you gotta sweat or you won't get far
Cause it's never too late to work nine-to-five
You can take a stand, or you can compromise
You can work real hard or just fantasize
But you don't start livin' till you realize - "I gotta tell ya!"
a combination of his images and those from the archive started with the
Short Tunnel under Weymouth Town Bridge which spans the Harbour
and served, loosley, as my Office, Snack and Beer Bar with helpers.
As much as anything else what was most appreciated at these gigs was the
total absence of predudice, no matter age, sex, colour, persuasion if you had the tallent
you were invited to take the stage.
This little lad, just 8, and accompanied by his dad, this young girl
not just posing (like some)
male or female

God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you put it in the soul of everyone!
but maybe none more so than
James Perry
son of Steve and Jude landlords of Finn McColl's Weymouth's premier music pub was a tallant to behold. On annual family visits to the USA both father and son played drums with such outfits as Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and believe on one occassion Metallica - quite remarkable as he fought off cancer to achieve all of that - would love to bump into him tomorrow!
with John Storey the most tallented guitarist even known personally
and if you always feel young then you'll never groe old,
the music gets inside your soul, how good it feels to be alive!
Oh, God gave Rock 'n' Roll to you etc!
and who trusted me just this once with his precious and favoured
Gibson Les Paul
with which at one such festival he blew the audience away with a solo rendition of
 Parisian Walkways
(in full swing above)
played better, and no kidding, than Gary Moore himself.
"the Unquiet Slumbers for the 'Sleepers' in that Quiet Earth"

Emily Bronte - Wuthering Heights or Genesis - Wind and Wuthering - the choice is yours?

Some of the Luminaries Norman Whiteside, ostensibly Drums but multi-instrmentalist, John Storey, as afore mentioned, Johnney Cash along with Pete Smith, multipule guitars, Blues Club owner and sometimes Pub Landlord.
