Yakety Yak (Don't Talk Back) - The Coasters

Start Your Week With A Bit of Old Fashioned Doo Wop

Since the Post of last Tuesday, All Around the World, we have recieved 7 quaries as to the significance of the Yak? A fairly short ditty which we are happy to repeat again today.

It seemed a relatively short time after take-off from Bejing that the Captain came over the tannoy to advise that "if passengers cared to look through the starboard windows you will notice a 'small white spot' below which is
Ulaan Baatar the capital of Mongolia".
Once finding out which side that is, looking out over the VAST expance of the Mountain Steppe surrounding it a pledge was made to myself to one day soon visit that very spot! Usually a solo Traveller (No Mates No Arguements) word soon got around on the Oil Rig with 2 shipmates paying me a visit to join me on the gig.
Next to arrive was 'Cockney' Captain Derek (Del Boy) Palmer mickey taker extrodenaire and former Commercial Artist.
"I hear you 3 Herbert's are going to Outher Mongolia, a disaster in waiting, and this is how I see it" as he scribed a quick cartoon onto one of the State Boards.

The splender of the ½* Mongolian Ritz Hotel with attendant Vulture’s and Putrid Pond, me in hippy regalia with binoculars at the ready, Rather Rotund William (a.k.a. Big Fat Billy) in the saddle and Jim the Medic in his favourite position, bringing up the rear, and what was left of our carrier aircraft. We hadn’t realised it was going to be that good with Del’s image being photographed and zealously guarded! On our first full day we hired an old Russian jeep with driver to visit the nearby

Gorkhi-Terelj National Park

On the way back we happened upon this
Lady and Gentleman offering rides on their dosile Yak.
A 'no brainer' which went down very well back on the Rig!
Nice bit of Local Schmutter as well worn for the first time at the then annual
Elm Tree Inn (Langton Herring, Weymouth) Blues Festival featuring
Custer's Last Blues Band.
THIS POST IS DEDICATED TO the BUCHAN BOYS on TOUR 2001!
Billy Rhubarb and Custard Crumble
Me and Jim the Medic
"come on lads the Taxi's here"
and
Captain Del Boy
(may your pencil stay forever sharp Del!)
