Columbia (for starters) - Oasis - Part One

Welcome to May and hope you Enjoy the Post!

The advice would be if you are planning a holiday or other break to South America don't just go for just a week-end!! My second trip there in 2009 did have some simitary about it, but after a 2 weeks Organised Birding Tour in Colombia the rest lay very much in the lap of the gods! Impossible to pick the Best of the Bunch there as just about every one qualified but for example

BLUE-NAPED CHLOPHONIA
CESTNUT-CROWNED ANTPITTA
and
TOURMALINE SUNANGEL
if only for its name.
During that process contact was made, via Birding Pals, a worldwide organisation for fellow Birders to guide visitors with no fee but on the understanding that both Fuel and Food would be paid for, and enter David Escanio and his side-kick Bruno in the capital of
VENEZUALA - CARACAS
APLOMADO HAWKs
where we covered many, many dozons of square miles
WHITE-HEADED MARSH TYRANT
including 'Saluting the Man Himself'
WHITE-TAILED DEER
common across much of the Americas.
BROWN-THROATED PARAKEET
City Centre
MASKED CARDINAL
CAPIBARI
YELLOW-CROWNED PARROT
HORNED SCREAMER
SAFFRON FINCH
Caracas Cascade
GREAT POTOO
WHISTLING HERON
BARE-EYED THRUSH
GIANT TORTOISE

BLUE-and-YELLOW MACAW
JABIRU
GREEN IGUANA
CAPPED HERON
and finally, until next Sunday, when we had a Lucky Escape
CHESTNUT-FRONTED MACAWl
