 Well, we guessed it would come sooner or later so no complaints about the mini-heatwave which has brought with it a bucket full of Moths including......

SCALLOP SHELL

MARBLED BROWN

GHOST MOTH

which, kicking against the 'traces' of nature in general, the
female is far more eye-catching than the all white male!

ALDER MOTH

with all of this backed by a vocal

SONG THRUSH
next, priority was set at the

MANOR

which we seem to have overlooked in our usual search for breeding

HOUSE MARTIN
which look every bit like being absent again for a 3rd year.

Something of a contender for a new nest,

while these have have seen better days!

Additionally and certainly not surprisingly a few Butterflies on the wing like our first
PAINTED LADY
of the year but much, much better still not only the first of the species

LARGE SKIPPER
but the 'first' of the family group if my memory serves me??

From within the S.P.C. at this time of year we keep an eye on the area of an old rusty gate

where we have recorded

SPOTTED FLYCATCHER

in each of our 9 Summers here, which now includes 2022.
A movement in the Heather saw us climb the gate to the Heath agig to find the

WOOD PIGEON

squab making heavy weather of getting through the

vegetation, while it could have been a parent bird eating the

BLOSSOM
and our day ending with the reciept of an update image from the
Wiltshire
