BRIMSTONE - Bad Manners

 Last day of Winter with the temperature having dropped even lower to -1°C with just a veneer of frost and the breeze having veered to the North-East conditions were far from perfect but still we sallied forth. Having only walked a few paces one of our neighbours a

BROWN RAT
put in a brief appearance in the Chicken Coup and from there it was Shanke's Pony or a long walk.
New arrivals at the Main Pond, a pair of
GADWALL
were finding sustenace among the 'beached' and dead Pond Weed while arriving at the Moth Trap exhausted, among once again, the few each of Ichneuman Wasps and Dor Beetles

Manna from Heaven

with a single but most welcome
First for Year
HEBREW CHARACTER
which was not to be the only winged Insect of the day, while en-route to the Gravel Pit again our favoured
RED-LEGGED PARTRIDGE
a number of
RABBITs
along with the final 'winged Insect' a most welcome 'first for year'
BRIMSTONE BUTTERFLY
At the Irrigation Pond singles of
LAPWING
and already 'drumming'
GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER

with hopes of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker being next on the list, and only a 'pair' of

WIGEON

being representative of the Waterfowl and a brief landing back at home of a hunting

SPARROWHAWK
