Big In Japan - Alphaville

With the 200th Macro Moth species in the bag (Yellow-line Quaker) and the chances diminishing of increasing the tally it was decided not to 'switch on' last night. Maybe mores the pity as the temperature remained around +2°C, the cloudbase was low, with patches of fog and the wind nonexistent. However from Saturday night there were

plus what I have tried to make into a Northern Winter Moth,

without success, it being 'the'

WINTER MOTH.

A short trip to Portland was with the sole intent of seeing my friend

CHRIS COOK and his friend from Thailand PONNY.

Chris, originally from Puncknowle (Punnel) a tiny village just west of Weymouth, left the area some 30 years ago to forge a life and career in Japan at which he has been most successful. News and Fashion Editor for the Japan Times and a respected Bird Guide in the country, I did once visit him

at his offices in Tokyo back in 2007

via the BULLET TRAIN.

Not an opportunity to be missed during their short visit to England.

In addition other things seen was this

which seems to have been going through its paces for evermore,

and the 101,000 Gross Tonne Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Tanker

On the way back to Parley a second attempt was made at seeing the c2 Common Cranes at Chesilbourne but again without success. We seem to have caught up now so ever on into the new week.

When the Saints Go Marching In - Satchmo

Yesterday's gallivanting has put us a day behind with posts, so what you see here today is in fact yesterday (once more)! As a guest of

TRELAWNEY (older brother of Hugh) and his wife GWEN

7 of us headed to the SAINT MARY'S football ground in

SOUTHAMPTON.

Others in the company included

their younger son TRISTAN, elder son JUSTIN, his wife

HANNAH and nephew/cousin DARYL.

With this 'kind gift' in hand we joined several thousand others

walking our way to the Stadium for the

SOUTHAMPTON (Soton) v MANCHESTER CITY (Man City)

Premier League Fixture.

It would be fair to say that what I know about football could be written in large capital letters on the back of a postage stamp, this invitation being more about another 'experience of life' rather than the sport itself, so there will be little in the way of text as not many of the players names are memorable to me.
