All Things Must Pass - George Harrison

There is an 'almost' unanswerable question that each of us must ask ourselves at one time or another which is, "how long do I have left"? Not one that is asked with any frequency here, but with still a million things to do before departure we are ever aware. With this in mind, the time has come to 'prioritise'! As can be seen, this very day we notch up our 600,000th HIT, which is an ego trip in itself, but there is much more to it than that. When we first took to the airwaves back in August 2009 our 'Recording Area' consisted of the Whole World, with much of it being brought to your front parlour, while today it is made up of just 1500 acres of East Dorset. In the process of downsizing this has generated some difficulty in finding fresh and interesting subject matter and by consequence generates repetitiveness and fact is we still have to commit the 10 most vibrant years of my life to memoir, then something has to give. Not that we think any of the select few are ever going to be that interested enough to read it, but a project that was started back in 1999 simply has to be completed!
We choose finish in exactly the same way that we started, with this image of a
WANDERING ALBATROSS
from off-shore Kaikoura, South Island, New Zealand
along with our
HEARTFELT THANKS
to each and everyone who ever 'clicked' on our Link.
 Farewell, Hüvasti, Orevwa, Wadaeaan, Adiós,

GOODBYE!

FIRE - Crazy World of Arthur Brown

While we do not wish to cause any 'Heart Attacks' we think it best to break the news gently to our Valued Readers, that this is the penultimate Post of the Bagsy Blog. No time now for reasons or explanations, but all will be revealed soon.
 Another
 and rather acrobatic
 CONVOLVULUS HAWK-MOTH
which at times was even doing 'barrel rolls'.
 OAK HOOK-TIP
 HOVERFLY
Volucella pellucens
and while monitoring the Harbins Garden Trap
we found a first for the Autumn
 FIRECREST
Starting our rounds as ever at Parley Pond there was something
of a surprise as this image only features 3 of a total c28
 COLLARED DOVE
which it is hoped are representative of a successful breeding season here,
but feared more likely to be, like the above, a part of an Autumn influx.
At the Irrigation Pond there was either the same or another
 REED WARBLER
while a hunting
 KESTREL
along with a
 CHIFFCHAFF
were located further down the lane.
On the Heath, but more particularly on the newly turned earth
which is now the far more shallow
Balancing Pond,
a number of Birds were found but only 2 obliging enough to afford a shot or two.
 WHEATEAR
 and the
 'young, pied'
CARRION CROW
 GRAYLING BUTTERFLY
was well camouflaged among the Gorse and Heather while a
 WILLOW WARBLER
seemed more that happy to allow a photo-call.
Finally, on a return to a previously BLANK
Gravel Pit

we found this little poser
GREY WAGTAIL

The Night Before - The Beatles

After the Fox chasing/flushing the Nightjar, today's offering is as much about The Night Before as happenings during daylight hours, which were scant to say the least. After a smashing evening on You Tube with John Cooper Clarke, The Da Vunci Code and a splash of Claret stepping out onto the lawn the
 TAWNY OWL
(at least 2)
were going bonkers but then a seperate and distinctly different
Owl call alerted me to a
BARN OWN
flying over the Lawn Tennis Court.
(this image is 'borrowed' from Wiki for illustration as we
still have not succeeded in taking one of our own)
Despite a dawn temperature of +14°C catches from the
Moth Traps remain low in numbers and by and large ordinary.
Best of the Bunch
 FROSTED ORANGE
 FEATHERED GOTHIC
 VINE'S RUSTIC
a
HARLEQUIN LADYBIRD LAVAE
and a Stranger from the Night, which we have never
clapped eyes on before, the tiny
PLANT BUG
 Pantilius tunicatus
Fortuitous that we met the Estate Managers for Manchester Airport Corporation,
the owners of Bouremouth International Aiport, to find out exactly what is going
on at the balancing Pond.
Seems it has taken all this time to figure out that the camber of this area
is not sufficient for rain, and any other water for that matter, to run off
into the tributary of the Moors River.
This they tell me, left in such a condition, may attract
Migratory Birds which was a consideration in the first place.
It begs the question just how much such a miscalculation costs
and will it effect the price of my next flight ticket out of BIA?

Brass in Pocket - The Pretenders

Another chill start to yesterday which was reflected at the traps but fear not, there is said to be an unseasonably warm airflow arrivinging from the south over the next few days. From earlier in the week we had an addition or two to the Year List such as a very long awaited
 L-ALBUM WAINSCOT
a very common Insect over much of the County but decidebly scare here.
Our last, and only capture goes back as far as 2013.
 The other was a
 CRESCENT
 GREY PINE CARPET
appears because of its lacey pattern
and we really did try to get the beautiful sheen to show on
BURNISHED BRASS
Otherwise, things have been what can only be described as 'dull' with
 SEBASTAPOL GEESE
4 in number being released at Parley Pond-side and
unknown activity going on at the
Airport Balancing Pond
maybe they are about to extend it?
On the way back from there we were inundated with
 STONECHAT
which concludes this rather short Post.
Rock 'n' Roll Trivia Name-Drop
Brass in pocket was the first record on which our friend
played on when he joined the band in 1982,
before continuing to augmnet the band for the following 5 years.
Some readers may find the rest of his track record, via the Link,
also of interest - a Journeyman Rocker!
