Out on the Wily, Windy Moor - Kate

Looks like the Facebook Post had the desired effect as 'HITS' this morning had increased 3 fold and being greedy in that respect hope our new and very welcome Readers will pass on the Link please! Thanks to one and All.

With so much going on we have got behind a little in fact as far away as last Sunday when after attending the  Moth Trap to the tune of a single

WINTER MOTH

along with our second DOR BEETLE of the year
we also paid our first visit of the year to the
HEATH
where, as ever, our long lost friends were awaiting our arriva bothl the
GOATs
and the Bull
OLD ENGLISH WHITE
with the biggest Salt Lick we have ever seen followed by the 'first for the year'
STONECHAT
singular, close to the leafless and not 'trembling' at this time of year,
ASPENs
With the other Cattle at great distance the intent was to turn the Reptile Covers
which on the cross-path we did, drawing a blank
but that's when they spotted us an charging across the Heath to see what 'goodies' we had brought for them!
c 2 WOODLARK
brought up yet another species to the Year List while we noted that there are now
c5 AIRBUS AIRCRAFT

on the pan and seemingly redundant?
with a lone

DARTFORD WARBLER
bringing up the 67th species to be recorded this year for our patch!

Blue Moon - I Saw You Standing Alone

Bit of a rush job with the E-Mail crash also hampering our progress, but here's hoping we are now back in busines? Next and second on the Spring (not quite yet) flower list showing just a hint of flowers
 DAFFODILS
and despite the crash from 9C to zero stil open water on the ponds supporting at least a single
LITTLE GREBE
along with the same number of
TUFTED DUCK
Good to See
with just a single
CORMORANT
just visible through the dense tree-line, along the Moors River, while
at the Moth Trap another, this time tame,

SPRING USHER

while the find of the day and an addition to the

a somewhat hoped for before the Winter subsides
a most welcome
GREEN SANDPIPER
with the photography ending on the doorstep with the subject matter being one of the remaining 2
HELMETTED GUINEAFOWL
it can only get better????

Granny Get Down off the Gas-Stove

You're to Old to be Riding the Range

Again it was ROBINs that stole the show at the wakening hour but not without a 'base-line' from above, a mixed skein of
GREYLAG GEESE
plus a few
CANADA GEESE
requesting permission to land, while at what was once known as the
Puddle of Mud now stand the first of the promised
lorries / trailers - let's just see how long it takes to be strewn with litter? While the only news from the water-courses was good albeit just the / or another single male
TUFTED DUCK
further to which there were also Moths
yes plaural but both of the same species but enough to fill a small desire as
2 x SPRING USHERs
with the rest of the morning
taken up by
some of the
youngest
EQUESTRIANS
we have ever seen at the
CENTRE
