Ipati, Panama - Cowboys and Indians

A visit to the Indian Lands of Ipati Coca started with a visit to seek the permission of the Head Man and then pick up the mandatory guide. That done, we were off to view some areas seen by very few.
 ROADSIDE HAWK
 VIOLACEOUS TROGON

MOI in the Rain Forest and Suspension Bridge.
 SNOWY-BELLIED HUMMINIGBIRD

 Then we found
 BLACK-BREASTED PUFFBIRD
 BLUE BUTTERFLY
 FORESTFLOWER

 SHEILDBUG
 OLIVACEOUS FLATBILL
A lone, high and distant WOOD STORK
A very poor shot of a very distant
SPOT-CROWNED BARBET
 Another BLUE BUTTERFLY
 MEALY AMAZON
 STREAKED FLYCATCHER
 Immature LITTLE BLUE HERON

 GREY-CHESTED MARTIN
 SOLITARY SANDPIPER
 SMOOTH-BILLED ANI
 SOCIAL SPIDER'S WEB
and that's when we hit a 'soft spot'!
Mud, mud, glorious mud
Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood
So follow me follow
Down to the hallow
and there let us wallow
In glorious MUD!
We were well and truly stuck but our guide quickly deployed the machete and got us out of the jam!

 Just a glimpse of a CRIMSON-CRESTED WOODPECKER

 LEAF-CUTTER ANTs with yellow blossom
 'SKIPPER' type BUTTERFLY
 FOREST FROG
An hour and a half from home.
GREY HAWK
Local men collecting PALM FRONDS for house building.

While back at the Lodge the RUFOUS-TAILED HUMMINGBIRDs
were still enjoying the sugar feeders.
